'RM7mil bungalow bought for Nedim's mum'

The RM7.2 million house allegedly purchased by Culture and Tourism Minister Nazri Abdul Aziz's son Nedim is actually a joint purchase for Nedim's mother, Nedim's girlfriend Nora Danish has said. 

"As far as I know, the house and luxury car were purchased for his mother, and these were not paid for by Nedim alone. 

"It wasn't bought for me, and I feel sad for him as everything he does seems to be linked to me," Nora (right) is quoted as saying in Sinar Harian's entertainment pullout Zass.

It is not clear what luxury car the 31-year-old single mother was referring to, but the house is believed to be the one identified in an expose by PKR-linked NGO Solidariti Anak Muda Malaysia (SAMM). 

In a press statement, together with documents substantiating its claim, SAMM called on Nazri to explain how his son, who is working as his aide in his parliamentary constituency, can afford such an expensive bungalow. 

To this, Nazri, who was initially taken aback by reporters' questions on this, said the purchase was "not (his) problem". 

Nedim is Nazri's special officer in charge of Gen Y affairs in the constituency of Padang Rengas, and he courted controversy when his name was listed this year as a Culture and Tourism Ministry staff member. 

He was initially listed as a "special officer" but Nazri later explained that Nedim was not on the government payroll. 

Nedim was caught in bad press last year as well, when it was exposed that he was driving around in a luxury car belonging to controversial businessman Michael Chia.
