Tiong's suit dismissed, Ong Tee Keat 'vindicated'
The High Court in Kuala Lumpur has dismissed a civil suit by Bintulu MP Tiong King Sing who is seeking RM10 million in ‘damages’ from former MCA head Ong Tee Keat.
Judicial Commissioner SM Komathy Suppiah dismissed the suit with costs today, but did not read out the grounds of her judgment.
The issue goes back to 2008, when Tiong (left), a businessman, claimed he donated RM10 million to MCA through Ong.
On Aug 24, 2009, Ong filed a RM500 million defamation suit against Tiong in relation to the claim.
Tiong, then the BN Backbenchers Club chairperson, stood by his claim and counter-sued Ong for RM10 million.
Outside the courtroom, Ong said he was pleased with the judgment and that he felt vindicated.
He later tweeted: ‘TiongKingSing's civil suit of RM 10m allegation agst me was finally dismissed with cost. VINDICATED again after MACC cleared me on 20-4-(10).’
