Petrol station in Ipoh sealed for SHORTCHANGING motorists

Petrol station in Ipoh sealed for SHORTCHANGING motorists
IPOH - A petrol station at Silibin near here was sealed by the Domestic Trade and Consumerism Ministry's enforcement unit for cheating their customers today.
The unit's senior assistant director Mohd Zulkifli Saidi, who headed the operation, said 26 pumps in the station were sealed after the operator were found to have cheated on the volume of petrol paid by motorists for petrol and diesel.
"Acting on complaints from motorists, we found for every 20 litre of petrol pumped, there was a shortfall of 400mm," he told reporters here.
Mohd Zulkifli said his unit was unsure when the operator started his unscrupulous activity.
"Initial investigations found normal motorists are the victims," he added.
The operation, which began on Wednesday, saw 10 officers checking on four stations in Perak.
"We are still checking on two other stations and will allow them to reopen if everything was in order," he said.
Mohd Zulkifli noted that Perak was the first state the unit started its operation.
"Similar operations will be held at other places in the country soon," he added.
Those with information on similar activities by petrol stations can contact the respective state's Domestic Trade and Consumerism Department.
