Man dies in police station, 4 nabbed
A man was pronounced dead soon after he was brought to the Sentul district police station on Thursday evening.
According to a statement by the Kuala Lumpur police contingent CID chief Khairi Ahrasa, the man was allegedly beaten up by an angry mob in Sentul before the police could intervene.
Khairi said that the man was travelling in a car that was reportedly stolen on Wednesday in Puchong, Selangor.
Friends of the car owner had allegedly tracked down the vehicle at near one of the entrances of the DUKE Highway.
The friends of the car owner subsequently surrounded the vehicle with their motorcycles and assaulted the two occupants inside the car.
Although one of the occupants managed to flee, the other was allegedly repeatedly assaulted by the mob.
"The man was later brought to the Sentul police station in a patrol car. Upon reaching the police station, the police personnel in the patrol car found that the man was unconscious.
"The hospital was notified in order to provide emergency treatment. Upon arrival, the medical personnel declared the man dead," said Khairi.
Four detained
The police also claim that preliminary investigations by the Kuala Lumpur general hospital have concluded that the man may have died of head injuries.
The police's statement did not state the results of the autopsy.
The police are investigating the matter as a murder case and have detained four men between the age of 22 to 37 to assist investigations.
Witnesses can help by contacting police officer Wan Abdullah Wan Said at 03-6256-2280 or 03-6256-2307.
Meanwhile, family members of the deceased have identified him as Mohd Nazri Nusi.
