National Feedlot Corporation Sdn Bhd (NFC) and its chairperson Mohamad Salleh Ismail have filed a defamation suit against PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar and party secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
The suit was filed last month at the Kuala Lumpur High Court following the duo's press conference in March last year regarding the company's alleged purchase of eight units at KL Eco City for RM12 million.
Mohamad Salleh who is Umno Wanita chief Shahrizat Abdul Jalil's husband said the allegedly defamatory remarks implied that he was not trustworthy, a criminal, greedy, or using his wife's position to obtain profit.
He said the statements also implied that he had used the people's money to increase his wealth, and that he and the company had cheated or abused the government's funds or the people's money.
The case is fixed for case management on Feb 27 where Nurul Izzah and Saifuddin will have to submit their statement of defence.
