Umno has received a response to the show-cause letter sent to an Hulu Selangor Umno Youth official over the alleged assault of Deputy Education Minister P Kamalanathan recently, Umno secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said today.
He said the reply had been submitted to the party’s disciplinary board for further action.
“It is left to the disciplinary board to determine the type of action... expulsion or other appropriate action,” he told reporters in Kuala Lumpur.
Tengku Adnan did not say when Umno received the reply.
Kamalanathan had reported to the police that he was punched by Hulu Selangor Umno Youth assistant secretary Muhammad Rizuan Suhaimi after a programme in the area on Jan 12.
Muhammad Rizuan was reportedly unhappy that his wife, a teacher, was denied a request to transfer to Hulu Selangor.
