The firm of the late Karpal Singh filed 35 grounds of appeal at the Federal Court registry to set aside the conviction and sentence of opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim for Sodomy II.
The filing was made by lawyer Zaleha Al Hayat, at 1.40pm at the Federal Court registry today.
"We have been working since 6pm yesterday to write the grounds of appeal. If it is not filed before 3pm today, it's possible that Anwar will have to serve the jail term, she said, adding that a copy will be submitted to the Attorney General's Chambers.
Among the grounds were that the appellate court was biased and there was misdirection in claiming that Anwar's counsel purposely delayed the hearing of the appeal.
