PUTRAJAYA - PKR Youth has lodged a report with anti-corruption authorities over wealth that he claimed had been illegally amassed by former finance minister Tun Daim Zainuddin.
This followed accusations by party adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during the just-concluded Kajang by-election that Daim was involved in transactions worth billions of ringgit in African and eastern European banks through proxies.
PKR Youth chief Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin (pic) filed the report against the former minister at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission office here yesterday.
He also submitted to the MACC a copy of a police report made by Anwar on July 30, 1999 over similar accusations.
Shamsul, who is Bukit Katil MP, said that during his hour-long meeting with the MACC officers, he also brought up alleged evidence of three corporate leaders who acted as Daim's proxies to manage his wealth.
Last month, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak reportedly hit out at Opposition leaders for turning the Kajang by-election campaign into a platform to discredit Daim, a former Umno supreme council member. -Asiaone
