Yet another investigation paper has been opened against PKR's Batu MP Tian Chua over alleged sedition, following remarks he made at a ceramah in Pantai Dalam, Kuala Lumpur, on April 20.
This comes just a week after the police seized Chua's mobile phone and tablet as part of a sedition probe involving a tweet he had made after the Court of Appeal had convicted Anwar Ibrahim of sodomy on March 7.
Kuala Lumpur deputy CID chief Khairi Ahrasa said today that several reports had been lodged and that the latest probe is being conducted under Section 4(1)(c) of the Sedition Act 1948 and Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012.
"(We deemed)... the statements (in his) speech (to be promoting) an unconstitutional act," he said.
Chua had warned Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak that he would face the wrath of the people, and also warned of an uprising after the Court of Appeal imposed a five-year jail sentence on Anwar.
“Tian Chua has two cases, and one of the investigation papers is complete and has been sent to the Attorney-General’s Department,” Khairi said, referring to the sedition probe on Chua’s tweet.
The police had previously raided Chua at a hotel in Petaling Jaya and confiscated his electronic devices at about 7.30pm.
