PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim has ‘failed’ in his role as the Selangor state economic adviser, said Umno assemblypersons.
Among others, Sungai Panjang assemblyperson Budiman Mohd Zohdi (left) accused Anwar of stalling the Kuala Langat 2 water treatment plant project, and expressed concern that Anwar may attempt to derail the memorandum of understanding between the state and the federal government on the water restructuring exercise.
“This plant is already late. What would happen if we delay further? This would only get politicised further and it is the people who will suffer,” he said, before going on to describe some of the difficulties people face in Selangor’s water rationing.
“This is the Selangor state economic adviser’s fault. If he (the Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim) did not listen (to Anwar’s advice) or is not placed under such pressure, I think Langat 2 would have been completed or nearly completed by now. We could have handled this problem better than we are doing now,” he added.
Budiman said this when reporters asked him to comment on Kajang assemblyperson Wan Azizah Wan Ismail’s statement to the state assembly yesterday that Anwar is a good adviser.
