After causing a furore by announcing that two Cadbury chocolate products have been found tainted with porcine DNA, authorities have made a U-turn, saying there is no such discovery.
According to Utusan Malaysia today, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Jamil Khir Baharom (left) said a new test from the same batch of samples showed no trace of the earlier said porcine (pig) DNA.
The products involved in the tests are Cadbury Dairy Milk Hazelnut and Cadbury Dairy Milk Roast Almond.
"The previous results, which were conveyed to the Health Ministry recently, may have been contaminated," Jamil is quoted saying.
The earlier result had unleashed a torrent of anger among Muslims against the well-established chocolate manufacturer.
