If you intend your sentence to be a figure of speech, you say it upfront that it is a figure of speech. Otherwise everyone could also say anything under the sun using the pretext of "figure of speech".
Can I also say that the Federal Court decision to deny the Catholic Church leave to appeal over the ‘Allah’ word is only a figure of speech?

The Malays I have known and know are always gracious and polite. Most are devout Muslims and their faith is quiet, private and is reflected in the way they talk and behave.

We are a nation under the rule of law. We have the police and the courts to enforce the law. We should not allow mobs to take the law into their own hands. We must not give them the impression that violence is permissible in any circumstance for we are a civilised society where the rule of law prevails.
