Wanita MCA has come out with all guns blazing at Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar, calling on him to cease sending mothers involved in interfaith custody disputes on an emotional roller-coaster ride.
The wing’s head Heng Seai Kee said if the police chief is unable to fulfil his responsibilities, then he should resign.
"He must quit his post and let a fair and just police officer, who does not, and will not, allow personal convictions to interfere in the execution of his duties, and upholds the law, to take over from him," Heng (right) said.
Malaysians epitomise the police force to obey the law and defend the defenceless, she said in a press statement today.
“We cannot have a situation where the numero uno in the police force makes arbitrary decisions in defiance of the law,” she said.
Heng's statement relates to the refusal of Khalid and the police force to enforce the High Court decision ordering the arrest of Indira's ex-husband Riduan Abdullah and the return of the couple's daughter to the mother.
Heng said Khalid's behaviour would cause the public to lose their confidence in the police force.
“Abductors can glee away, knowing they can thumb their noses at the law and court orders with impunity, since the authorities who are entrusted with implementing the law will shield them,” she added
This is not the first time that the police authorities have failed to act, having done so as well in the custody battle between S Deepa and Izwan Abdullah @ N Viran earlier this year.
