A training workshop would be held to educate Selangor Islamic Affairs Department (Jais) officers to avoid creating controversies when carrying out their work, says Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.
The workshop, he said, should also be attended by state exco members and legal experts.
“Jais has changed their standard operating procedure, and if you look at their recent statements, they have accepted the change quite well. But the problem that I see is with its implementation,” he said.
He was commenting on the latest backlash against the Islamic body after some of its officers disrupted a wedding at a Hindu temple last week, and hauled away the bride for investigation upon suspicion that she is Muslim.
It was later discovered that the bride, Zarina Abdullah Majid, 32, and her siblings, were registered as Muslims in their identity cards by their father, a Muslim convert, who is said to have abandoned the family some 20 years ago.

Both the Selangor government and Jais have pledged to help Zarina, who was raised a Hindu, to change her name and religion.
Jais has been embroiled in a number of controversies over the past few years including the seizure of Malay-language bibles from a church.
Abdul Khalid was speaking to reporters at the launch of the 2014 Foo Kok Keong Cup International badminton championship in Shah Alam yesterday.
During the launch, the MB, who was dressed in a baju melayu instead of sports attire, played an exhibition match against tournament namesake and former national shuttler Foo Kok Keong.
Despite not playing very well, a mock scoreboard showed the menteri besar won the match 21-16.
