Now MAS plane hit by baggage vehicle

Malaysia Airlines faced another accident today when one of its B737-800 was hit by an airport baggage vehicle while it was parked at the tarmac today.

Photos sighted by Malaysiakini of the incident at the Kuala Lumpur Airport showed a rip on the underside of the aircraft body.

Confirming the incident, MAS said that the airport baggage vehicle "hit the fuselage of the aircraft" resulting in damage.

"The cause of the incident is being investigated, whilst the driver was temporarily suspended," it said in a statement.

It added that the aircraft was then grounded for repairs and passengers were transferred to another aircraft.

"Another B737-800 aircraft was utilised to operate the next flight which departed on schedule," it said.

Last month, a MAS aircraft was hit by Perodua Viva airport vehicle while it was on the KLIA tarmac.

MAS' ailing fortunes took a nosedive after its MH370 flight disappeared while travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8.

The Boeing 777-200 is still missing to date.

MAS shares plunged to a record low of 15 sen last month amid fears of bankruptcy.

It lost RM1.17 billion in 2013 despite a nine percent rise in revenue
