PM Najib Visiting Another 'stan or 'jan

Our PM has made up his mind that before his term in office is over (the soonest we all hope) he will visit all the Third World countries whose names end in 'stan or 'jan. So he has done Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and now Azerbaijan.

The following is not the news.  It is just an attempt at a parody.  Or spoof. Joking only lah.  No Sedition Act here ok. If you think you dont like it, please print this on A4 size paper, roll it up tight and Nike it.  Do read the news report. It has been 'doctored :)

Wide receiver man : Welcome. What can we do for you?
Najib : Does the name of your country end with a 'stan or 'jan?
Wide receiver man : Yes, its with a 'jan.
Najib : Ok thank you. I will cross it from my list.

BAKU (Azerbaijan): Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak arrived here Thursday night for a two-day official visit to boost bilaterial relations between Malaysia and Azerbaijan as well as pave the way for further economic investments in carpets, rugs and shisha pipes.

The special aircraft carrying Najib and wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor touched down at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport, Baku at 9.30pm local time (12.30am Malaysian time). The airport will soon be renamed the Ilham Aliyev International Airport, the next 'President for Life' in Azerbaijan.

They were received on arrival by Azerbaijan First Deputy Prime Minister Yaqub Abdulla Oglu Eyyubov, Azerbaijan Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman and Malaysian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Datuk Roslan Abdul Rahman.  Datuk Seri Anifah Aman was recently head hunted by the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.

This is the first official visit by a Malaysian Prime Minister to Azerbaijan. The Azerbaijanis themselves are quite flabbergasted. 'Wow. Why would the Prime Minister of Malaysia want to visit our humble country?' they wondered.

Apart from a four-eyed meeting between Najib and Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev, as opposed to the  usual cock eyed meetings the PM has, and a bilateral meeting jointly chaired by both leaders, they are also expected to sign a joint declaration which outlines both countries' commitment to enhance bilateral and economic relations in various fields.  Shish kebab, shisha, shawarma and yogurt  will figure  prominently in their discussions.

On Friday, after the official welcoming ceremony at the Presidential Palace, Najib is scheduled to hold bilateral discussions with Ilham Aliyev, to be followed by a delegation meeting between Malaysia and Azerbaijan. They will expand further their earlier discussions on expanding the
shish kebab, shisha, shawarma and yogurt sectors.

Later, they will witness the signing of MoUs and agreements on economic, scientific and technical cooperation for these sectors.

Najib is also scheduled to officiate the establishment of the Embassy of Malaysia in Baku, Azerbaijan. Malaysia established its mission in Baku on April 1, 2014.  To fill the time (or kill the time) the new Malaysian ambassador will also take up full time graduate studies at the University of Baku.  His graduate thesis shall be, "Things To Do In Baku".

The Prime Minister's visit will also enable him to personally extend Kuala Lumpur's invitation to the Azerbaijan President to undertake a state visit to Malaysia in the near future.  It is possible that the President may hitch a ride back with Najib - Bersama

My real views :  Gone are the days when our Prime Minister was invited to visit First World countries and visit major world powers (aside from Third World nations and countries of the South). Gone are the days when our Prime Minister would have discussions with major world leaders. Francois Mitterand of France enjoyed conversing with Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed.

Our Prime Minister now visits the 'sandy' countries of the Middle East and Central Asia - UAE, Qatar (1MDB HQ), Dubhai, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan.  He will soon be running out of 'stans and 'jans.  If the US creates new countries in Kurdistan, Pashtunistan,  Khalistan etc the PM may have an extended holiday.

How about leading a trade mission to Germany? Or an investment mission to Japan, Italy, France, the US?  Malas nak fikir kut.
