A fire broke out at Seberang Jaya assemblyperson Dr Afif Bahardin’s service center early this morning.
Afif said his staff were alerted of the incident by a woman who lived near the area, Taman Siakap, at about 3.30am.
“We suspect foul play (perbuatan jahat) and an act of sabotage by certain quarters, to threaten the safety and security of my staff at the premises,” Afif said when contacted.
“I suspect it is not an accident. The front area of my centre was damaged by the fire,” said the Penang state executive councillor.
“We are yet to determine the cost of damages but have lodged a police report this morning,” added Afif, who is also PKR national deputy youth chief.
“We want the police to investigate the matter thoroughly and act urgently on the culprits,” he stressed.
A police report was lodged at the Seberang Perai Tengah police headquarters in Bukit Mertajam at 4.14am by Mohd Iskandar Seberi.
Constable Siti Hazwani Mohd Noor received the report. -M'kini
