MIC president Datuk Seri G.Palanivel is refusing to concede any ground over the recent troubles facing the senior Barisan Nasional component party. – The Malaysian Insider pic, February 16, 2015.MIC president Datuk Seri G.Palanivel is on a collision course with Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Najib Razak after he declared that no outsiders will be allowed to run the party which is currently in turmoil.
"I, as the president of MIC, am not willing to let third parties (BN) run our beloved party," Palanivel said in a statement.
"The deputy president of MIC may be willing to allow third parties to run MIC and lose our self dignity and respect but I will not.
"We have our party constitution and relevant bylaws to run the party and conduct party elections, if need be. Any other course of action as proposed would be illegal, null and void.
He was responding to a statement by BN secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor earlier today where he said a BN secretariat will be formed to intervene in the MIC crisis to prevent it from escalating further.
Tengku Adnan had said that to make the running of the party smooth until the re-elections, BN has proposed that the administration of the party be handed to the secretariat to help in the current crisis.
