In the Wizard of Oz, Judy Garland sang “Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high where skies are blue and the dreams that you dare to dream, really do come true.

Unlike the make-believe world of Oz, Paul Wolfowitz must acknowledge how the harsh realities of losing reputation, position and allies leave a bitter taste in one’s mouth. The tides of change show factual evidence that demand a verdict.

Fact #1. Playing golf together is no passport to political allegiance. Golf and governance are as far from each other as the east is from the west.

Fact #2. The White House does not give two hoots about Anwar because he is not a threat to US, only a willing ally far too many times till his own repute has gone up in smoke.

Fact #3. The fact that Obama refused to meet Anwar Ibrahim last year during his visit to Malaysia, and relegated Anwar to a group meeting with National Security Adviser Susan Rice shows Anwar is no longer the blue-eyed boy of US, and is nobody now.

Paul Wolfowitz pointlessly attempts to drum up support for Anwar, in the post-judgement period. He must realize judicial decisions are beyond the control of Americans or their leaders, and must desist from making lame overtures to elevate Anwar’s prestige, which crumbled years ago.

Fact No 5. In his writ suit against Chandra Muzaffar on March 7, 2008, Anwar revealed he migrated and stayed in US. The rationale given in 2004 for staying in US permanently after his release from prison was to have a ‘constructive engagement’, or that he wanted to ‘narrow the divide between the Muslim world and the West.’ This speaks volumes about Anwar’s ties with Malaysia and his infamous links with Americans such as Paul Wolfowitz and Robert Zoellick (former President of World Bank).

A Jew, Zoellick is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), and was appointed by U.S. President George W. Bush to be World Bank President to replace Paul Wolfowitz who relinquished his post following the explosive sex scandal involving his Muslim girlfriend, Shaha Ali Riza.

That Wolfowitz and John Mallot can lobby for Anwar confirms Anwar Ibrahim is a political instrument to destabilize Malaysia behind the facade of “democratic” opposition forces demanding regime change over local issues.

4. Consultant to the World Bank, hired by Bank Director Paul Wolfowitz.

6. International Crisis Group, a leading Soros-financed NGO (Non-Government Organization).

7. Foundation for the Future, set up by Dick Cheney and his daughter Liz, to promote regime change in Southwest Asia. Anwar allowed Wolfowitz to put his girlfriend on the Foundation’s payroll, a bit of corruption which ultimately cost Wolfowitz his job at the World Bank.

Men like Wolfowitz who lobby for Anwar are themselves not so credible. The comparison has already become obvious in the French, German, and Spanish press (source HERE).

Their cries for Anwar’s release from his conviction stem from their empathy being in the same boat and belonging to the same organization with insidious agenda.

Paul Wolfowitz will gain more mileage by restoring the lost shine to his name than playing a silly role in this ‘Please Release Anwar Game’. Self-serving dreams never come true.
