Perkasa: Probe those insulting Islam on Facebook

NGO wants police and MCMC to nab Facebook users who also have allegedly insulted the Sultan of Kelantan and are extremist in their views.

PASIR MAS: Pertubuhan Peribumi Perkasa Malaysia (Perkasa) in Kelantan has asked the police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to investigate the account owner of ‘Murtad In Pantai Timur’ (Apostate in the East Coast) on social networking site Facebook which insults the sanctity of Islam and the Sultan of Kelantan.

Its president Che Aseri Ali said stern action should be taken against the account owner who was deemed an extremist. “Perkasa Kelantan views seriously, and strongly opposes any form of insults to Islam. “So today, I and some other Perkasa members have come to the Pasir Mas District Police Headquarters to make a police report on the ‘vile’ statement issued by the account owner,” he told reporters outside the police headquarters here, today.

Che Aseri said another Facebook account owner Adlin Binti Abdul Jalil also insulted Islam and the Sultan of Kelantan, who supports the implementation of Syariah Criminal Code (II) Enactment 1993 (Amendment 2015). He said the actions of both Facebook account owners were hurting and causing dissatisfaction among Muslims in this country.

“It is time for Muslims to unite and put aside their political differences for the sake of (the) sanctity of the religion,” he added.

Last Thursday, the Kelantan State Legislative Assembly passed the Syariah Criminal Code II 1993 (Amendment 2015) bill, or hudud, which only applies to Muslims, after 44 members of the State Legislative Assembly unanimously approved the bill.
