Bukit Aman traffic police chief, Datuk Mohd Fuad Abd Latiff, said a total of 240,000 from the 1.59 million warrants of arrest issued to traffic offenders had been executed after Ops Warta was launched in May.
“I advise the public to check their summonses status at traffic police stations and settle them,” he said in a statement here yesterday.
Ops Warta was launched on May 19, and was stopped temporarily to give way to Ops Selamat in July in conjunction with the Aidilfitri celebrations this year.
In the meantime, Fuad reminded offenders who had a lot of summonses or a warrant of arrest not to remain silent but to come and meet their personnel or heads of traffic to find out the status of their summonses.
He urged the public to take the opportunity in the next few days, to settle those traffic summonses, before traffic police carry out roadblocks and turn up at their premises for the purpose of tracking and arresting offenders. – Bernama
