The Umno blogger, who questioned the timing of Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's official visit to Indonesia with the wedding of the deputy prime minister's son, has been ordered to remove the offending post by Malaysia's Internet regulator.
"MCMC finds that Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has issued an official statement on October 1, which states that he never spent any money or used public funds for the reception of his son's wedding in Indonesia.
As such, the commission told Shahbudin to take down the article.
When contacted by The Malaysian Insider, the blogger confirmed the matter and said that he removed the post last night upon receiving the email.
"I have taken it down from my blog after getting the email from MCMC."
The post had questioned the timing of Zahid's official visit to Indonesia, which coincided with his son's wedding in Jakarta.
It led to the deputy prime minister denying that he had spent any money on his son's wedding.
The Star also reported the father-in-law of Zahid's son saying that he paid entirely for the wedding reception in Jakarta.
Shahbudin has been questioned by MCMC over his blog post and his intention in writing it.
The blogger said he was investigated under the Multimedia and Communications Act 1998, which makes it an offence to publish indecent, obscene, false, menacing, or offensive materials to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any person.
