A hike in the KTM Komuter fare is expected to be announced tomorrow, with the new fares beginning on December 2, The Star Online reported.
The fare is expected to increase by 4 sen a kilometre from the current 11 sen to 15 sen a kilometre.
KTMB chairman Datuk Nawawi Ahmad said the details would be announced by the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD).
The fare, however, is unchanged for the KTMB’s Intercity trains, the report said.
KTM Komuter fares were last revised in 2003.
The fares were to have been raised in May but the plan did not proceed following objections from the public.
The fare hike comes on the heels of an increase in toll rates by several concessionaires in October.
SPAD chairman Tan Sri Syed Hamid Albar had previously said that new fares for the LRT and Monorail services would be announced by the end of October.
