He pleads not guilty to charge of using an application through the "Adam Mukhriz Muhayeddin" Facebook page to initiate transmission of false communication with intent to annoy another person.
KUALA LUMPUR: A freelance blogger pleaded not guilty in the Ampang Sessions Court here today to a charge of uploading a fake image of the prime minister on his Facebook page.
Abdul Muhaimin Mohd Muhayedi, 27, allegedly used an application through the “Adam Mukhriz Muhayeddin” Facebook profile to initiate the transmission of false communication with intent to annoy another person at 1pm on Oct 20, 2015.
The page was then shared with another blogger at Block A, 5th Floor, No 8, Ampang Mewah Apartment in Ampang Jaya, here at 9.45am on Oct 22, 2015.
Abdul Muhaimin was charged under Section 233 (1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (Act 588), which provides for a maximum fine of RM50,000 or imprisonment not exceeding one year or both, if convicted.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Raihanah Abdul Razak offered bail of RM10,000 in one surety.
Defence Counsel Dr Syed Iskandar Syed Jaafar Al Mahdzar objected to the bail as there was no possibility that the accused would escape.
“The accused has given his full cooperation. He is not employed and will attend court on any dates fixed,” he said.
Judge Rushan Lutfi Mohamed allowed bail at RM8,000 in one surety and fixed June 17 for mention.
