Trumps Go China Way

Video of Donald Trump's 5-year-old granddaughter reciting Chinese poetry wins hearts of Chinese netizens

CHINA: US president-elect Donald Trump's five-year-old granddaughter Arabella Kushner has won Chinese hearts after a February video of her reciting ancient Chinese poetry resurfaced on China's social media.

The video was trending on Sina Weibo soon after Mr Trump was announced as president-elect last Wednesday, with many users praising Arabella as "surprisingly cute and impressive", reported Global Times, an English-language Chinese newspaper.

In the video, Arabella appears wearing a traditional qipao and stands on a table to recite works by famed Chinese poets such as Li Bai.

Arabella, who is the daughter of Trump's eldest daughter Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner, has been studying Mandarin since she was 18 months old, according to the Daily Mail.

Here is Arabella learning Mandarin at 2 years or something.

Well in case you did not know,  the Sultanah of Johor, HRH Raja Zarith Sofia who is a princess of Perak, obtained her degree in the Mandarin language (Chinese Studies) at Oxford University in 1983.

Remember what Tun Dr Mahathir said in his last address to the UMNO General Assembly in 2003 -  that we must study the West and the western civilisation because they will continue to have a very big impact on our lives.

The Trumps have got it right to teach their next generation the Mandarin language.  You know why they are doing this? Because they are clever. That is why they will rule the world for some time yet.   They are not learning Arabic or Bollywood.

In Holland they teach their primary school kids Dutch, English, French, German, Spanish, Italian etc.  Here is something from the Net :
  • Dutch primary schools conduct 15% of lessons in English, French or German in an effort to boost language skills.
  • young children pick up foreign languages more quickly.
  • All Dutch people speak Dutch and English.
  • good majority also speak or understand combination of : German, French, Flemish, Spanish, Portugese, Italian etc. This is impressive by any means. Learning a language in school is an integral part of the Dutch Education System.
The Dutch learn up to six languages in school. The Dutch do this for a purpose. Here is the map of the Rhine River:

The Rhine flows from Switzerland, through France, Germany and then empties into the sea in Holland. He who sits astride the river mouth, controls the river trade. For centuries the Dutch have been trading up and down the Rhine. Speaking many languages has been a necessity for them.  They are merely continuing with this tradition.

Now here is a map of South East Asia :

Malaysia is smack in the middle.  Imagine if we teach our school children to speak Mandarin, Thai, Filipino, Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean besides English.  Surely Malaysia will become the true center of  East Asia.

There is a problem : these are NOT the languages spoken in "heaven".
