BREAK IN MALAYSIA’S SELF-CREATED IMPASSE? COPS DROP BOMBSHELL – JONG-NAM’S NEXT-OF-KIN ON THE WAY TO KL TO IDENTIFY DAD’S BODY BUT IT MAY NOT BE HAN-SOL

MUAR: A next-of-kin of Kim Jong-nam, the murdered half-brother of North Korea’s leader, is expected to arrive in Malaysia in one or two days’ time, to assist police in identifying his body.
Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Noor Rashid Ibrahim said the relative lives “not far from Malaysia” and is expected to aid in the process of identification, which has yet to be carried out.
Noor Rashid reemphasised that to date, none of Kim’s family members has come forward to identify the body.
“So far, no (family member has identified the body). I think, within this next one or two days, one of them will come forward. It may be a child or relative who is (living near Malaysia),” said Noor Rashid after the launch of the Galeri Darurat Bukit Kepong near here today.
Kim Jong-nam is the estranged half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. The former is believed to have been murdered in a high-profile assassination at Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2) on Feb 13.
Noor Rashid also addressed North Korean criticism over police’s investigation of the murder of Jong-nam, who held a diplomatic passport. “Any case that occurs in this country is subject to investigation by local authorities.
Even if the case involves the death of a person holding a diplomatic passport, the investigation would be the same. It would be based on the country’s laws and would take international regulations into consideration.
“There is no issue of violating regulations,” he added.
