KOTA KINABALU: A Perodua Alza ended up on the roof of a Toyota Innova in an accident on Jalan Karamunsing near here Wednesday.
Judging from the crash, it is amazing that the drivers of the two vehicles managed to escape unscathed.
The Wednesday 10.30am accident drew a large crowd of onlookers, who thought that the Alza had "flown" onto the roof of the Innova.
Kota Kinabalu police chief Asst Comm M. Chandra said there was no "flying" involved in the accident.
He said the 54-year-old Innova driver, who had been driving from town towards the junction near the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) building, had wanted to brake when a Toyota Vios suddenly passed in front of her.
"Instead of stepping on the brake pedal, the woman accelerated as she panicked," ACP Chandra said.
It resulted in the woman crashing into the rear of the Alza, pushing it upwards with the Innova ending up beneath it.
The 54-year-old Innova driver sustained light injuries to her right leg while the other driver was unhurt.
