PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has thrown his weight behind Kelantan deputy menteri besar Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah, who challenged PAS' Pokok Sena MP Mahfuz Omar to quit the party.
"If he is a PAS man, then he should follow the PAS way. If he refuses to follow PAS' ways, then he should quit.
"I support Nik Amar's statement," Hadi told a press conference in Marang, Terengganu today, a video recording of which was uploaded on Terengganukini.
Hadi added that this should apply to all members.
Yesterday, Mahfuz expressed surprise that his statement that PAS and PKR ought to sever ties had courted Mohd Amar's ire.
Mahfuz said his statement was based on Hadi's stance that PAS will not work with any party that cooperates with DAP and Parti Amanah Negara, which happens to be the case with PKR.
Mahfuz added that he was only expressing the views of the grassroots.
However, Hadi claimed that the grassroots disapproved of Mahfuz's behaviour.
"We receive reports from the respective constituencies... PAS members don't want their leaders to behave like that.
"If he has honour, then don't only resign from the party but also as an elected representative because the people chose him under PAS' banner," Hadi said.
However, he said, disciplinary action has not been taken against Mahfuz yet, as previously there was no formal complaint against him.
"But I was informed a report had been submitted to the disciplinary board.
"It will be up to them to decide," Hadi added.- Mkini
