PAS and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) leaders are meeting for the second time this afternoon to disccuss the possibility of cooperating in the next general election.
However, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang's remarks this morning could prove to be a brick wall.
Speaking in his constituency of Marang, Hadi reiterated that PAS would not work with those who have ties to DAP and Parti Amanah Negara.
"We already have a guideline that we will not cooperate with any parties working with DAP and Amanah," he said when asked about possible cooperation with Bersatu.
A video recording of the press conference was uploaded by Terengganukini.
The statement came hours before Bersatu leaders were to visit the PAS headquarters in Kuala Lumpur in an attempt to reach some kind of agreement.
Bersatu and PAS held their first formal negotiations on Feb 1, where both parties were represented by their respective deputy presidents.
The next day, Hadi downplayed the negotiations, calling it "just a meeting" and stressing that decisions would not be made based on individual officials.
Bersatu chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad publicly complained that Hadi has refused to meet Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin.
Expressing frustration, Mahathir said he would not crawl and kiss PAS' feet.
In response, PAS said it did not want the former premier to kiss its feet, but to just respect its stand.- Mkini
