Hishammuddin hopes no scapegoats in ex-aide's graft case

Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein hopes there will be no scapegoats in regard to the graft charges levied against his former special officer earlier today.
He said he would let the case go through due process, but hoped there is a thorough investigation to prove the truth.
"I only hope that whoever is investigated, and whoever is investigating, don't let any innocents become victims," he was quoted as saying by Bernama.
He also said that no one is exempt from being probed by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, including himself.
Zailan Jauhari, 47, who was reported to be still working for Hishammuddin in February 2014, pleaded not guilty to a charge of receiving RM80,000 in bribes in January 2014.
The charge involved securing school cleaning tenders from the Education Ministry for two companies.

Hishammuddin said Zailan had worked with him for a long time.
"This is an old case. The officer involved has been with me since I was with the Home Ministry and the Transport Ministry," he said.
Hishammuddin was made Home Minister and Acting Transport Minister in 2013 following BN's victory in the general election that year.
He subsequently let go of both portfolios and became Defence Minister in a 2014 Cabinet reshuffle.- Mkini
