Madinah replaces Ambrin Buang as new auditor-general

Education Ministry former chief secretary Madinah Mohamad will takeover from Ambrin Buang as auditor-general beginning Tuesday.
Chief secretary to the government Ali Hamsa said Madinah was appointed by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on the advice of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.
“The government records its highest gratitude and thanks to Ambrin for his service since his appointment as auditor-general on Feb 23, 2006, especially his efforts in transforming and restructuring the government's auditing system and reinforcing its financial management systems," said Ali in a statement.

Madinah retired as chief secretary of the Education Ministry last year. Prior to that, she had also held the same position at the Science, Innovation and Technology Ministry.
Ambrin had introduced the tabling of audit reports three times a year, from the previous practise of only once a year.
He was also in charge of the 2015 federal audit on troubled state investment firm 1MDB. The report for the audit was later classified as an official secret.- Mkini
