Police arrested him and seized his mobile phone after receiving reports he was linked to a rape case last December.
KUALA LUMPUR: A restaurant waiter was sentenced to a year’s jail by the Sessions Court here today, for possession of pornographic images and video in his mobile phone at a public place.
Taslinnaim Tasrip, 24, pleaded guilty to the offence.
He committed the offence at 12.05pm at a shopping centre in Jalan Tun Sambathan here on Jan 5.
Judge M Kunasundary ordered Taslinnaim to serve his sentence from the date of his arrest on Jan 5.
Based on the facts of the case, police arrested Taslinnaim and seized his mobile phone after receiving reports he was linked to a rape case last December.
Further inspection revealed he was sending the said images and video to a 19-year-old college student through WhatsApp application.
On Jan 10, Taslinnaim had pleaded not guilty to raping the said student at a house in Brickfields here at 10pm on Dec 26 last year.
The court set March 13 for mention of the case. -FMT
