Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) vice-president Peter Anthony has urged the Umno Grassroots Movement (Gaum) to lodge reports on all Sabah firms awarded tenders by the Rural and Regional Development Ministry, rather than focus on his company.
Peter said that his company, Asli Jati Engineering, has had a good track record as a contractor for the government for over a decade and all contracts were secured through a competitive tender process.
He said Gaum’s police report, which implicated his firm, was essentially questioning the due process practiced by the current BN government.
Gaum had lodged a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on Feb 2 against Warisan president Mohd Shafie Apdal for allegedly awarding a contract to a close associate when he was rural and regional development minister.
Peter said that there were many other companies which secured contracts relating to the water industry when Mohd Shafie was minister and questioned if Gaum cared about them.
“Is (Gaum chief) Zulkarnian (Mahdar) going to lodge similar MACC reports against them?” asked Peter in a statement yesterday.
He said that Asli Jati Engineering had secured two contracts when Mohd Shafie was the rural and regional development minister through a competitive tender process.
“So tell me what’s wrong with being awarded projects by Rural and Regional Ministry? I’m more than willing to cooperate with any investigation initiated by MACC.
“If they needed my help, I can provide every details including tendering documents if needed,” said Peter.- Mkini
