Ministry: Why no chairs in Termerloh hospital lobby?

Health Minister Dr S Subramaniam wants answers after an individual posts a complaint on Facebook that he had to sit on the floor of the lobby.
Dr-S-Subramaniam-sjshCAMERON HIGHLANDS: Health Minister Dr S Subramaniam has instructed Pahang Health Director Dr Shaari Ngadiman to find out why the main lobby of the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital in Temerloh is void of chairs.
He said the matter had to be addressed as soon as possible to provide comfort for visitors, as well as patients, at the hospital.
“The State Health Director has been instructed to identity the reason (for the absence of chairs at the lobby),” he told reporters after a working visit to the Sultanah Hajjah Kalsom Hospital (HSHK) here today.
Subramaniam said this in response to a Facebook posting by a man who complained of having to sit on the floor as there were no chairs available for visitors at the lobby of the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital.
The Facebook posting soon went viral on social media and a specialist at the hospital responded to it in a comment saying that it was not suitable to have chairs at the lobby as they posed an obstruction during emergency situations.
Meanwhile, Dr Subramaniam said an allocation of RM280,000 would be needed to repair the cracks on the walls of some building blocks at HSHK. He said the cracks, however, did not pose a danger.
He said another RM750,000 would be required to upgrade the water supply system at the hospital.
The ministry was also looking at providing a family health specialist to improve services at the hospital, he added. -FMT
