MUKTAMAR | The PAS Youth muktamar was postponed this afternoon after air-conditioning issues left the venue, a large tent, unbearably hot.
Problems with air-conditioning arose during the opening of the event this morning, but got progressively worse.
At about 2pm, when delegates came back from lunch, the air-conditioning units had stopped working, possibly due to problems with the generators.
With the afternoon sun heating up the tent to uncomfortable temperatures, there were many grumbles from the youth delegates and media personnel.
A proposal was made for the session to be postponed, but there were not enough delegates in the tent to meet quorum, stalling proceedings until almost 3pm.
When enough delegates had finally arrived, the Youth wing tried to hold their meeting, moving and approving a motion on their meeting minutes.
But the heat appeared to be too much to bear and after a briefing on how to vote for their executive committee, a motion was moved at 3.15pm to postpone the muktamar to 8pm.
The motion passed was met with a resounding "yes" from the heat-weary delegates.
The reason given for the adjournment was that time was needed to replace the generators powering the coolers.
When the Youth wing reconvenes tonight, heated debates are expected, among others, on PAS' ties with PKR.- Mkini
