Dr M doesn't rule out 'emergency declaration' if BN loses polls

Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad believes the results of the coming general election will be declared null and void if BN loses by a small margin.
"Either that or the government would refuse to admit defeat. The opposition would be accused of cheating.
"No evidence would be needed for the government to declare this. The bullies in BN would be ready to create instability.
"On this basis, there could be a declaration of a state of emergency and Parliament would be suspended," he said in a blog posting.

Mahathir said should Parliament be suspended, a National Operations Council (Mageran), akin to what was formed after the race riots in 1969, would be established to run the nation using martial law.
According to Mahathir, this period of uncertainty will allow BN to make overtures to MPs from rival parties.
"Once BN gains a sufficient majority, the emergency would be lifted and BN would form a majority government. Parliament would be recalled," he said.
