HINDRAF TO GO ON ROADSHOW TO ENSURE BN DOES NOT GET INDIAN VOTES

(FMT) – Hindraf secretary says Prime Minister Najib Razak reneged on his promises made to the NGO just before the last general election but now, just before GE14, he is promising to help Indians again.
Hindraf plans to go on a road show to convince Indians to vote against the Barisan Nasional in the 14th general election.
Its secretary Muniandy Ponnusamy said the NGO was preparing to launch its “Not a single vote for BN” campaign.
This was because, he claimed, Prime Minister Najib Razak had reneged on his promises made to Hindraf to help the Indian community just before the last general election.
He said with GE14 around the corner, Najib had the “audacity” to tell Indians they would have to vote the BN if they wanted to see the success of the Malaysian Indian Blueprint, which was launched in April.
“Hindraf openly calls on the entire Indian community in Malaysia to reject PM Najib and his BN,” Muniandy said in a statement.
He said just before the last general election, Najib had engaged Hindraf when the then opposition Pakatan Rakyat had refused to consider the blueprint prepared by Hindraf. The blueprint had sought “a permanent and comprehensive solution to the long standing socioeconomic issues” affecting the Indian community.
He said in a series of meetings, Najib had assured Hindraf that he would “personally make sure” that those proposals of Hindraf which he found to be practical would be implemented as soon as Hindraf chairman P Waythamoorthy was appointed deputy minister in the Prime Minister’s Department.
“Though Hindraf had its doubts in the beginning, Najib convinced Hindraf that he was sincere and really was concerned with the plight of the downtrodden estate workers who were displaced from the estates.”
Muniandy said, in launching the Hindraf blueprint in 2013, Najib had made “an unconditional apology of the BN’s failures in addressing the Indian plight for 40 years”, adding that the speech was available online for public viewing.
He claimed that the “sweet promises” of Najib had turned out to be “empty promises”.
He said none of Najib’s promises signed in the memorandum of understanding to endorse the Hindraf blueprint was fulfilled.
Muniandy alleged that Najib was now trying to “hoodwink” the Indian community into trusting him again through the Malaysian Indian Blueprint.
