PETALING JAYA: A trailer struck a pedestrian bridge along Jalan Meru, Klang, last night, causing part of the bridge to collapse and damaging an underground pipe.
According to The Star, the incident took place at about 7.30pm.
It caused some traffic congestion along the main road before police cordoned off the area to allow officers from the Public Works Department to investigate.
According to a Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson, a team of seven firemen were rushed to the scene after being alerted at about 8.05pm.
“A pillar supporting one side of the concrete bridge gave way, causing the structure and its metal roofing to collapse,” he was quoted as saying.
“The fallen structure also damaged an underground pipe.”
No injuries were reported in the incident. -FMT
