PAS, tell us what Arul said at your 1MDB meeting

YOURSAY | ‘Maturity means wisdom, and wisdom means seeking the truth.’
Anonymous 2460391489930458: PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said his party may have landed a briefing with the 1MDB president and CEO (Arul Kanda Kandasamy) due to its matured politics. He also likened the 1MDB scandal to spilt milk, pointing out that whatever happens to the perpetrators, Malaysians would still be saddled with its debts.
It's not a privilege to receive a briefing from someone like Arul so PAS shouldn't make a big deal of it. Arul probably acquiesced to meet them as he knew he had a sympathetic and forgiving audience.
True, milk has been spilt, but what assurances are there that the spill will be cleaned up and fast? Will there be further spillages? These are concerns that need to be addressed with the greatest urgency.
But if the 1MDB management is unprepared to be totally transparent about the company's true state of affairs and chooses to skirt around the issue, a thousand briefings with a non-critical "friendly" party like PAS will not help.
Anonymous_1421806811: Tuan Ibrahim, maturity means wisdom, and wisdom means using one's mental faculties to seek the truth. When you ask the right questions, you get the right answers.
The fact 1MDB cannot meet its loan repayments on time is proof that something is not right. We all know there is no point in crying over spilt milk, but we definitely want those who purposely spilt the milk to be brought to justice.
So please tell us, Tuan Ibrahim, what did Arul say that enlightened you and assured you that all is right, when the facts are telling us otherwise?
AJ: Let me understand this. Tuan Ibrahim is saying whoever allegedly stole the money is water under the bridge and the people should focus on paying for the theft? Is that the rationalisation plan by Arul? Wow.
Anonymous #40538199: PAS should know that the glory is not in PAS meeting up with Arul, it is in what PAS can do to bring to book those who misappropriated 1MDB funds.
Allforit: All the intellectual leaders, who could have countered and disputed Arul, are now with Amanah.
PAS specialises in religion, not economics, finance, or banking. The whole 1MDB is so intricate, I doubt any layman would have unravelled or fully understood the extent of the deceit.
Most importantly, we now know that the biggest heist of the century was allegedly pulled off, and that Malaysians are the victims. If PAS cannot even understand something so basic, then Malaysia will be in big trouble if the party were ever to come into power.
Malaysia4All: PAS has its priorities wrong. Don't just go around wiping off the spilt milk with a paper tissue.
Go after the people who spilt the milk in the first place because if you don't, they will continue to spill more milk, and you will soon run out of tissues.
Victor Johan: PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan has said that PAS approached 1MDB's Arul for answers on the investment fund after the party's parliamentary queries on the matter had been rejected. He added that the party had been “lucky” to get a response from Arul.
Takiyuddin, please go ahead publish all the questions and answers that you and your party leaders have had with Arul. As these discussions were outside the Dewan Rakyat, they are deemed not sub judice by the House speaker.
So, go ahead and convince the rakyat why the deliverables were satisfactory, or otherwise. No editing, please.
Anonymous 2460391489930458: Why does PAS make such a big deal about meeting Arul? It's almost like they are ecstatic to be "granted an audience" to meet a celebrity or the king.
“‘It was our luck that he responded,’ Takiyuddin told the Lower House today.” God have mercy! What is wrong with PAS?
Legit: This country has gone down another notch with this idiotic story.
First, the incorrigible House speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia rejects all questions on 1MDB. So PAS goes through the back door to get Arul Kanda to come and brief the party. And PAS is apparently so lucky to get him to brief them.
After a short briefing, PAS has understood what is allegedly the most complex financial scandal of the century, and is now happy with the 1MDB rationalisation plan.
Meanwhile, Pakatan Harapan parties have been waiting in vain for an explanation from Arul on 1MDB, and so far, Arul has only done the disappearing act when asked to debate with Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua on 1MDB.
Anonymous 2460391489930458: 1MDB should be given a chance to carry out its ongoing rationalisation plans without any form of political interference, PAS information chief Nasruddin Hassan said.
He described the plan as a form of damage control, and said priority must be given to ensure that 1MDB can manage its debts promptly and reasonably.
Nasruddin, no one has any issues about conducting damage control. After all, the damage has already been done. Anyway, what else can we do now but arrest and rectify the problem before it gets worse? That goes without saying.
But "damage control" includes getting hold of the culprits who got us into this mess in the first place. You can't address the problems while the perpetrators walk around freely; who knows, they might create even more of a mess before you clear this mess up.
Yes, do what is needful and fast. But make sure the wrongdoers are brought to face the full brunt of the law.
Kingfisher: It is quite naive, if not amusing, to see this misplaced good-hearted gesture from a political leader towards those who have allegedly squandered billions of public money.
It seems that there is scant regard for a just resolution to a massive national fraud involving a sovereign fund, not to mention burdening the public for generations to underwrite the cost of deliberate financial crimes by those who failed the public trust.

What manner of leadership accountability will be bequeathed to future generations through such “expressions of charity” from one politician to another? - Mkini
