Smashing beer bottles and protesting in towels are forms of gutter politics that would be rejected by the people, Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali said today.
Without mentioning any names, Azmin in his speech at Bandar Kinrara, Puchong made references to various stunts pulled by Sungai Besar Umno chief Jamal Md Yunos outside the Selangor state secretariat (SUK) building.

"He can smash 20 beer bottles, he can wear a towel and march along the highway, but Selangor will continue to develop," said Azmin.
"In times when we are working hard to help the people, there is someone obsessed with attacking the state secretariat building (almost) every week, smashing bottles, wearing a towel...what kind of work is this?

"The people on the ground are suffering. The people want houses, the people want jobs, the people want a better economy... they don't want gangster politics and gutter politics," the menteri besar told the over 100 participants of Selangor's Smart Rental Scheme.
Commenting further, Azmin expressed confidence that the people of Selangor would continue to support leaders who are working for their best interests.
"So that is my promise to the people of Selangor. I will work hard to strengthen the state's economy," said Azmin.
As part of his latest stunt outside the SUK building in Shah Alam, Jamal last Thursday used a sledgehammer to smash boxes of beer bottles, in protest against the organising of "beer festivals" in the state.
The red shirts leader, along with seven others, were eventually arrested at approximately 1.45am and investigated under Section 143 of the Penal Code for unlawful assembly, to be read together with Section 268 for public nuisance.
If found guilty, Jamal could face up to six months’ jail, or a fine, or both.
In another stunt, Jamal last December showed up outside the SUK building clad in towels, to complain against the disruption of water supply across Selangor.- Mkini
