Interpol help sought to locate Jho Low, Zahid confirms

PARLIAMENT | The government has indeed sought assistance from the International Police Organisation (Interpol) to locate controversial businessman Low Taek Jho, better known as Jho Low.
Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi confirmed this in Parliament today.
He was responding to Azmin Ali (PKR-Gombak) who asked whether police will seek Interpol's assistance to locate Low and whether he will be detained to be investigated.
"We have indeed requested Interpol to find the person mentioned by Gombak. We are confident that Interpol has acted professionally."
Zahid, however, said police have yet to receive a detailed explanation from Interpol on the matter.
"We are confident with what has been done by the international community as well as from intelligence agencies, and we are confident that this will not be raised again, except by dissatisfied politicians," he added.

Azmin, in August, had sent a letter of demand to then inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar.
He had demanded the police to pursue and extradite Low over alleged involvement in offences under the Penal Code linked to the 1MDB financial scandal.
Low, whose whereabouts remain unknown, is closely linked to the 1MDB scandal, which saw billions of ringgit in funds allegedly siphoned off by certain individuals.
He has denied the claims directed at him.
