One woman with a head injury was taken to Beaufort hospital for treatment before she was transferred to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kota Kinabalu for observation.
KOTA KINABALU: All 16 Chinese tourists travelling in a tour bus were injured after the vehicle went out of control and crashed into a drain beside the road in Beaufort last night.
One of the tourists was injured on her head and rushed to the Beaufort district hospital for treatment before being transferred to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital here for observation.
“The other tourists were slightly injured while the 62-year-old driver and the tour guide escaped unhurt,” said Beaufort police chief DSP Azmir Abdul Razak.
According to Azmir, initial investigations showed that the accident at Km7.5 of the Beaufort-Papar road was caused by the driver’s carelessness.
However, tests found he was not driving under the influence of alcohol, he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless driving. -FMT
