IPOH – A 69-year-old supermarket owner was found murdered by his son this morning.
The son who came to open the premise at the Jelapang Commerical Centre found his father in a room on the first floor at 8am.
The victim identified as Sem Ah Yem, was found with head injuries, his hands and legs were also tied.
Cash of RM80,000 was also missing from the safe deposit box.
Ipoh City police chief ACP Mohd Ali Thamby said the supermarket closed for business at 10pm on Monday night.
“The robbers escaped with the cash which was in the office on the ground floor.
“We will view CCTV recordings from nearby buildings to track down the robbers,” he added.
Mohd Ali said a blood-stained iron rod was also recovered from the scene.
Investigations revealed that the robbers gained entry from the back portion of the building.
Two sons and a daughter of the deceased are also employees of the supermarket which had been in operation for the last seven years.
