DAP rep ejected from Perak assembly on last day of sitting

PERAK DUN | Howard Lee (DAP-Pasir Pinji) was ejected from the Perak state assembly this morning, after attempting to raise a motion to refer Khusairi Abdul Talib (BN-Slim River) to the rights and privileges committee.
When contacted, Lee told Malaysiakini that state assembly speaker S Thangeswary had denied his right to table the motion, and instead ejected him from the proceedings, which will end today with voting on the state budget.
“Rather than accepting (the motion) and allowing the rights and privileges committee to do its job to decide how to treat the situation, the speaker denied my right to table the motion.
“And instead, I was the one who actually got sent out,” said the Perak DAP Youth chief, who also claimed that the speaker called him a “budak nakal” (naughty boy) after he refused to follow her orders to sit down.
“On at least three occasions the speaker asked to me sit down and I sat down,” Lee insisted.

He added that the argument between the speaker and himself lasted for about 20 minutes before he was eventually ordered to leave.
Lee further said that his motion to refer Khusairi to the rights and privileges committee was raised in accordance to the House’s standing orders, and based on the latter’s alleged utterance of a swear word while debating the state budget during last Friday’s sitting.
“At the time (debate) there was a slight altercation, and suddenly the (swear) word came out (from Khusairi).
“It was (also) reported by at least three Chinese press (agencies),” he said.
Malaysiakini sighted a draft copy of the day’s Hansard, which did not record the swear word allegedly uttered by Khusairi against members of the Perak opposition bench.
Lee, however, was on record saying “kaki carut” (foul-mouthed person) in reference to Khusairi.- Mkini
