Jawi may call Husni over claim Anwar sodomised nephew

Hanipa-Maidin-jawi

KUALA LUMPUR: An opposition MP says former second finance minister Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah is likely to be summoned by the Federal Territory Religious Department (Jawi) to answer a complaint of “qazaf” (unsubstantiated accusation of forbidden sex).
Mohamed Hanipa Maidin, who is Amanah Sepang MP said he was informed of this after he and his party colleague, Kuala Terengganu MP Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah, had their statements recorded at Jawi this morning.
“Both of us were called by Jawi to provide information on a complaint that Tambun (Husni), while speaking in the Dewan Rakyat, accused Anwar Ibrahim of sodomising his nephew.
“I handed over a copy of the Hansard (containing Husni’s remarks) and a video clip of Husni speaking in the Dewan Rakyat. I was told he (Husni) might be called next week for his statement to be taken.
“If necessary, Jawi may even record a statement from Husni’s nephew,” he told a news conference in Parliament.
Hanipa and Raja Kamarul arrived at the Jawi headquarters at 10am and had their statements recorded separately by two investigating officers.
Husni, speaking during the debate in the Dewan Rakyat, alleged Anwar was “involved” with his nephew.
“Do you know who Anwar Ibrahim is? I was Anwar’s man, I left him.
“After he lost the deputy prime minister’s post, I helped him. I went to Bukit Damansara (where Anwar used to live). When he was involved in sodomy. He was involved with my nephew. We all cried, I went to Jordan,” said Husni.
Hanipa subsequently lodged a report against Husni with Jawi which filed it under Section 41 of the Shariah Criminal Offences Act (Federal Territories) 1997.
Pakatan Harapan (PH) to meet Dewan Rakyat Speaker
Meanwhile, PKR’s Sungai Petani MP Johari Abdul said PH members would seek a meeting with Dewan Rakyat Speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia to get his views on the immunity parliamentarians enjoyed.
“We want to ask him whether what Husni said is protected under an MP’s privilege,” he said.
Generally, an MP enjoys immunity from civil and criminal proceedings when taking part in parliamentary debates.
Johari also said he and other MPs from PH would visit Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) to meet the vice-chancellor to get more information about Husni’s allegation.
He said the nephew mentioned by Husni was believed to be connected with UKM but it was unclear whether he was a student or lecturer there.
“We want to ask the vice-chancellor whether this individual is real or invented (by Husni).
“He (Husni) did not make any police report, and also refused to state when and where it (alleged sodomy) took place,” he said. -FMT
