YOURSAY | ‘Hadi has given Clare the opportunity she has been waiting for.’
Vgeorgemy: Former Bar Council president Ambiga Sreenevasan, the issue has nothing to do with the rule of law. These guys have the history of hiding people from the rule of law and they are experts in it.
The parties involved in the 1MDB saga and the fugitive far-right extremist preacher legally declared as a terrorist in India, Zakir Naik, are only a few. As if they are expecting certain cases to happen to justify to their constituents that they are not the only ones hiding people from the rule of law but others also.
Our beloved nation expected the responsible leaders of the political parties mentioned in Sarawak Report editor Clare Rewcastle-Brown’s defence statement will address the nation in the Dewan Rakyat to present their side of the story to the rakyat.
DPM Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s statement clearly shows that they have no plan to address the 34 shameful matters mentioned in the defence statement.
These guys have no sense of shame but they will hunt down the oppressed and marginalised to feel good. This, we need to be careful about.
Fairnsquare: Now Rewcastle-Brown will just have to prove the case is of public interest and expose everything on the whole 1MDB fiasco in the UK court. The world will then be the judge.
PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has given her the opportunity she has been waiting for.
Fair Play: PAS is never good at playing poker, much less strip poker. Would they dare to proceed if the evidence is produced in the UK court?
Fairnsquare: Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Abdul Rahman Dahlan challenged Ambiga to reveal her sources on the allegations concerning 1MDB funds and PAS, in order to establish if the allegations were based on facts or otherwise.
We do not know what else has been revealed in the affidavits and what other evidence will be exposed in the UK court that could prove embarrassing to the nation and here, we have a minister and many other governments officials making silly comments.
Falcon: Rahman Dahlan, please be patient. It is sub judice, as you very well know. After all, we have heard it used frequently in Parliament.
But having said that, when the trial starts in the UK, I am certain she (Ambiga, who is a person of integrity) will speak out.
Yours and My Malaysia: Indeed, why should Ambiga say anything? The case is in the court so should it not be sub judice - or some words like that, which BN parades around when asked questions about 1MDB?
MA: Mr Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, you too can open the can of worms that is called 1MDB; but you won't.
EmEmKay: Rahman Dahlan, you are bravely asking Ambiga to reveal her source of the information. Similarly, I am asking you to declassify the Auditor-General’s report on 1MDB.
Annonymous: While the source of the missing billions in the world’s biggest financial scandal involving 1MDB is ignored by every institution in Malaysia, yet everything about 1MDB will be officially exposed in an open court in England, a free and developed country that respects the rule of law, freedom of speech and basic human rights.
I suggest you and your boss discreetly contact Ambiga and Rewcastle-Brown to settle the case out of court as we suspect PAS' action has a hidden agenda to indirectly expose and implicate the real criminals involved in this most ‘haram’, most hideous and biggest financial scandal in the world and ensure justice for the rakyat and country.
Anticonmen: Billions received - millions paid out - irrefutable evidence - movement of funds - US Department of Justice (DOJ) suit - a minister also admitted receiving money - timing of events - evidence by inference of tainted political conduct or change of political conduct - public interest - fair comment.
British laws are 'public interest' first, politician's interest last. He who comes into equity must come with clean hands.
Sleepy: If the allegation is true, then what is the purpose of the apology and if not, then let the case proceed.
If PAS wins, it would surely strengthen PAS' case against Ambiga or, speaking as a layman, is this apology like "playing poker" with your opponent?
Lord Denning: Journalists do not reveal their sources. Either that or Rewcastle-Brown did this with the full consent of Ambiga. Or has Rewcastle-Brown stitched up Ambiga to save her own skin?
The behaviour of both Ambiga and Rewcastle-Brown suggests that there is something more in the RM90 million "donation" alleged. If not, both Rewcastle-Brown and Sarawak Report have lost all credibility in the reporting of issues.
Falcon: Isn’t it strange that a jurisdiction that 'uses and abuses' the concept of sub judice is finding it difficult to accept it when properly used, as in this case?
But I am still awaiting that dossier evidence on the allegations of luxury purchases and trophy wives.
Goldee: Ambiga must be waiting for the right time to expose the whole truth. Let's wait to see the fun as this is only the beginning.
Kosha: Surprisingly, PAS now believes Sarawak Report (that Ambiga was Sarawak Report’s source). But whatever Sarawak Report said about PAS before is slander…- Mkini
