Thirty prospective Harapan candidates to declare assets

Some 30 prospective Pakatan Harapan election candidates, including some incumbents, are expected to declare their assets this Sunday.
They are among individuals assisted by Invoke Malaysia, a voter mobilisation and research group founded by PKR vice-president Mohd Rafizi Ramli.
"The prospective candidates will also sign a pledge to work for the rakyat, including paying into an RM20 million trust fund for the public if they were to defect (after being elected).
"I invite all Malaysians who want to see progressive change in Malaysia after the 14th general election. Come and celebrate a big milestone in our journey to institute accountability in the highest public offices of the land," Rafizi said in a statement today.
The event will take place at Summit USJ on Sunday evening as part of a crowdfunding event for Invoke.
Invoke hopes to raise another RM5 million from the public that would be used to help 53 candidates during the coming general election.

Rafizi (centre in photo) said the sum would be spent on Invoke's volunteers, the maintenance of 17 offices nationwide, and salaries for 102 staff.
He estimated that RM3.5 million would be spent on operational matters, while the remaining RM1.5 million would be spent on campaigning efforts.
Invoke has been on a campaign to dethrone BN by focusing on around 50 parliamentary seats which the BN won with narrow margins in the 2013 general election.
Rafizi said more funds were needed because the group needed to sustain itself from now until May and July next year – the period which they predict the general election will be held.
Previously, the Pandan lawmaker had predicted that elections would be held in July. He then predicted that they would be held in November, after Budget 2018 was passed.
Meanwhile, Rafizi revealed that Invoke's voter sentiment surveys have suggested that BN's support level is at present below 40 percent, in the event of three-cornered fights between BN, Harapan and PAS.- Mkini
