FOUR cars in Jalan Sultan Abdul Samad, at Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur were damaged by a falling tree during heavy rain today.
Three cars were parked while another was moving when the incident occurred. No casualty was reported.
The hour-long downpour that started at about 2pm uprooted the tree, believed to be infested with termites.
One car owner Chandra Jogi, 55, said the tree that toppled over was beside another tree that fell on a lorry a few months ago..
“I requested for the DBKL (Kuala Lumpur City Hall) contractor, who removed the fallen tree, to check on other trees as those too could have been infected. But I guess nothing was done.
“Two of the cars including mine, which were parked under the affected tree are badly damaged,” he said.
Chandra said the DBKL emergency response team arrived at about 3.30pm to clear the fallen tree.
“Some of the passers-by also helped to clear the debris promptly,” he said.- Star
