Kedah MB says Rafizi should not question the winning factor.
JITRA: “That is probably his personal view and we have ours,” Kedah Menteri Besar Mukhriz Mahathir said when asked to respond to PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli’s statement that Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad was not the factor behind Pakatan Harapan winning in the May 9 polls.
Mukhriz said Rafizi should not question the winning factor but instead accept the fact that victory was achieved.
“We feel the question over the winning factor should no longer arise as the results are already known and the government has been formed.
“As such, it is not necessary to bring up these issues.
“It is inappropriate to say such things, now that the politicians are enjoying warm and cordial relations.
“It is best not to create a rift among the four parties, and also Parti Warisan Sabah,” he told reporters at an “Ihya Ramadan” programme to hand over contributions to the Kubang Pasu district mosque here today.
Meanwhile, in KUALA TERENGGANU, state Bersatu chairman Razali Idris urged all parties to stop discrediting others but concentrate on efforts in rebuilding the nation, as pledged by the PH government.
He said at the moment, the people wanted to see the leaders of the component parties work with integrity, cooperate and maintain unity.
As such, this was not the time to discredit or belittle others who had contributed to the success of PH in GE14.
“Rafizi must remember that the people dared to change after seeing the strong coalition in PH, led by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
“Alhamdulillah (praise be to God), with the formula developed by him, we succeeded in GE14,” he said in a statement here today.
Earlier, Rafizi had claimed that the popularity of Mahathir was not the winning factor for PH in GE14.
Instead, he claimed the rising cost of living and the implementation of the goods and services tax (GST) had resulted in PH’s success in defeating the Barisan Nasional (BN).
The former Pandan MP said this was based on a post-GE14 survey conducted by Invoke Malaysia, which found that voters were more affected by these two issues compared with loyalty to Mahathir. -FMT
