Reopen probe on reports against Dr M - Umno leader dares MACC

An Umno leader has challenged MACC to reopen investigations into reports filed against Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad to prove its independence.
Lokman Adam said this was in line with MACC's new chief commissioner Mohd Shukri Abdull's pledge to act in a free, transparent and professional manner.
"Now we have a new government with the slogan 'New Malaysia'. We urge for actions to be taken against the prime minister because in the past maybe there were no charges pressed against these cases.
"We hope that under this new leadership, all these cases will be reopened and investigated," he told reporters outside the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya this afternoon.
Earlier, he submitted a 12-point memorandum with a list of past reports made against Mahathir.
Without delving into details, Lokman said some of the reports were lodged by then opposition leaders including Anwar Ibrahim, Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and Lim Guan Eng.
He was accompanied by Jaringan Melayu Malaysia president Azwandin Hamzah.
Lokman's challenge came amid MACC questioning former premier Najib Abdul Razak at the same venue over the SRC International issue.
Meanwhile, he reiterated that he had yesterday lodged a police report against Shukri for failing to report against an attempt to bribe him to close the 1MDB investigation.
Lokman said this was because the failure constituted an offence under Section 25(1) and (2) of the MACC Act 2009.
On Tuesday, Shukri claimed that an MP from the north, who is known for the adage “cash is king”, offered him money in return for not pursuing the 1MDB investigation in 2015.
However, he did not name the MP.
Shukri also revealed how he had received bullets via the mail, was stalked when abroad and that the police wanted to arrest him for conspiring against the government.
The press conference was held when Najib was being questioned over the RM42 million from former 1MDB subsidiary SRC International being transferred into his personal account at the same venue. - Mkini
